You need to read their bio for the rules.

I'm kind of curious how you intended to grief someone by giving them space-cash.

The rules are usually quite clear. "1.5 BILL" is not an actual amount of space-cash, hence it will never be doubled.

People who fall for this scam don't deserve to keep that isk anyway.

Posting to confirm that it is completely necessary to pay a scammer in order to make noobs aware of the scam. Nobody has ever made noobs aware of a scam without first pretending to be taken in by the scammer in a non-refundable fashion.

This explanation makes perfect sense and this story is 100% plausible.

The scammer sounded absolutely devastated that she took your 1.2b ISK and had to suffer your wrath and the ultimate humiliation of being BLOGGED about. My lord, man, ease up on the poor lass.

PS - next time you are 'plain bored' and want to blow 1.2 billion ISK in an effort to help newbs, buy us some ships, or some skill books or something. Anything else, rather than give your money to someone who is obviously (obvious to anyone with half a brain) scamming.

I rather doubt that you deterred your spammer. But I'm confident you have encouraged a whole bunch of new scammers.

The people that fall for this aren't going to read this anyway.

They can't all be scams. I gave a guy 1b isk and he doubled it once. I think it was in jita.

Though well intentioned I feel the process is perhaps a bit misguided and fruitless.

1- you have reinforced the scam
2- such a scam runs on the greed of the particular player, you are not effecting that, nor can you reasonably hope to
3- players who actually get sucked in to 2x scams are not likely to be reading your post, if they do they will delete or distort 'facts' that fall outside of the model of things that have them fall for the scam in the first place.

The noob missions should have an ISK doubler with limited negative impact and a station agent that then tells you how stupid you were.

This is absurd, I recently couldn't afford plexing my account and I seen Erotica 1, and she seemed pretty legit from what the forums say.

So I asked her nicely explained the situation and sent her 250 mil isk, she sent back 500 mil so I could plex my account.

OP just tried forcing her into what she would have already done freely (double the isk) so to teach him a lesson he got burnt, oh well play by the rules next time and it will go in your favour.

The majority of the people who do these things aren't scammers they are just extremely space rich and like to help other people.

I'm not quite sure how giving a scammer's recyclable alt some ISK is going to "remove them from Didoxi" or even warn a new player when the scam is about as obvious as trying to sell somebody the Statue of Liberty ...

But congratulations on validating their tactics to the scammer.

Is this some elaborate scam? Next you're going to tell us you succeeded in driving ISK doublers out of Didoxi and ask us to send you 2.4 billion to do the same in Jita?

While i can sort of understand what you are trying to do, you have to understand that this is something that has been said so many times over and over again that one more wont make any real difference (as an example look at a certain recruitment scam from one of the more known alliances).

When it comes down to it new players (and plenty of old ones im sure) gets scammed because they dont take the time to do any form of research and are blissfully ignorant of how harsh EVE can be.

In a way (in my own opinion) its a good thing that young players gets to experience getting scammed once since it will teach them to do proper research, encourage them to find creative ways around these scams (look at DMC's post as an example), and finally teaches them that you can not trust anyone in EVE (especially if they want to give you free stuff for no apparent reason at all ).

But honestly...this is just another thread describing the same scam as countless other threads, and while this thread has been growing, his wallet has most likely grown as well.

I am sympathetic most of the time to other eve players who get scammed, but what makes me want to keep flaming this thread, is simply this.

You should have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPECTATION of getting stuff for free in this game, irregardless of whether you attempt to shame a scammer or not.

Lets say that the pressure you put on the scammer worked, lets say they doubled your isk... would you be posting here? absolutely not.

YOU are posting here, simply because you are angry with losing 1.2 bil or 1.4 bil whichever it was and you want some kind of justice or this is your attempt at reasoning your loss, instead of admitting you got scammed. (which is what happened)

Edit: in other MMO's it is possible for a single player to rid a single server of 'ISK'/'gold' doublers. I do not think the scale or mechanics of EVE allow this. There are two steps. Often only one is needed.

1- you bombard their means of trade with zero value transactions. It makes it impossible for them to respond to their marks.
2- while doing this you actively troll them out into public, beyond their bot ads. They get quite angry and ruin their own market, but usually that is not even necessary.

I know this works because I have done it multiple times in multiple games. It simply becomes unprofitable for them to operate in that area or on that server. This actually works for many kinds of third party profiteers. Eventually you can create a local cultural norm about it where the potential marks now have a persistent hostility toward such activities and take pride in trolling them out. The ISK doubler is essentially 'lazy' and will move to someplace easier to operate. Because EVE is geared to be able to handle transactions and is so vast this would not likely work here, nor be worth the trouble. It is necessary to create a consistently hostile business environment for them. Though it does not take the kind of 16 hour obsession reported here, you do have to be vigilant for a short period of time and willing to log an alt. Educating the 'mark' alone is insufficient. However if other people relaize they can punish the doubler in some way it very rapidly becomes good fun to do so. Actually paying the doubler anything is the opposite direction you want to go. If you cannot destroy their profitability through insane transaction costs there is little you can do. 'Education' such as the OP imagines not only does not work, but creates the opportunity for shilling by the doublers themselves, as we see above.

As my new friend Jarod has realized, I was in dodixie all day today. Despite all sorts of fail attempts, players still played and were rewarded handsomely. Well, not all. I am actually up around 4b today net because many did fail the rules.

As I have informed my war targets, I have the war set to autopay for 3 more weeks, so I will be here for some time. Eventually I will go back to my beloved home of Jita.

I wish I could post the chatlog here. Jarod made it sound in our chat that he was eve famous (thought I doubted because I know most who are) and that he had this really popular blog that would ruin me. I was really looking foward to being featured on themittani.com but instead it was some **** blog made just for me. Not even it's own domain, but hosted on blogspot.

Look, I like the guy and he seems nice and all. But the pics look fake to me. He said he would make it his project to ruin me, so I can only assume he is some pro graphic designer by day and drunk troll by night.

if you expected to get 2 billion doubled, I would say you did not even read the rules.

Erotica1's game is very simple.

The rules are clear, yet it is easy to miss a key point in those rules that will result in you losing the game. If you lose it is just like losing when gambling, the money you lost is gone. Vegas does not refund your money when you lose. I am not Trying to make you feel dumb because you lost. Far more players fall to follow the rules and lose, than those that do follow the rules and win. That is what makes the game work. If more players win than lose she will not make any money.

This game is based on greed. Players get so excited that she actually does payout what she says that they forget the rules and send isk amounts that do not follow the rules.

If you want to play the game add her to your watch list, Send isk only when you see she is online.

Read her Bio carefully, If you follow ALL the rules, you will get your isk doubled, tripled or even 5 times what you send her.
